1900: Creation of ‘l’Auto-Vélo’ newspaper by Henri Desgrange and Victor Goddet; to become ‘l’Auto’ in 1903.
1946: Birth of L’ÉQUIPE , launched by Jacques Goddet.
1980: Launch of L’ÉQUIPE magazine, a weekly supplement to the newspaper, featuring reportages, inquiries, special reports and photos.
1987: L’ÉQUIPE forgoes its famous yellow and pink for the front and back pages. The first full colour edition would not be printed until 2003.
1995: Birth of ‘Editions L’ÉQUIPE’, which aims to provide a clearer picture of the heritage of sport through quality works.
1998: Creation of ‘L’ÉQUIPE dimanche’, a Sunday publication to cover the football World Cup in more detail. The edition’s huge success saw it become a permanent fixture.
1998: Creation of L’ÉQUIPE TV, the first sports news channel.
2000: Creation of lequipe.fr, the first sports news website.
2003: L’ÉQUIPE is printed in full colour throughout all of France.
2006: Launch of the ‘Journal du…’ free magazine series, beginning with golf and equestrian.
2007: Launch of the ‘Journal du tennis’; creation of the RTL-L’ÉQUIPE sports and news radio; creation of the ‘L’ÉQUIPE junior’ website.
